Would you like to work with people? Supporting and guiding children, the elderly or disabled who need it, so that they can take care of themselves for as long as possible? Then the Services, Helping Care and Welfare programme is for you. Everything you do matters.

Caring for people who need extra help

During this course, you will learn all about providing personal care to children, adults who need a little extra help, people with disabilities or elderly people in a nursing or care home. After this training, you can start working in people’s homes, but also in care homes, nursing homes, home care and assisted living arrangements. Or continue studying at MBO 3 level.

Structure of the training

This programme prepares you well for the professional field. Topics that will be covered during your training are:

  • Anatomy of the human body
  • Most common clinical pictures of clients
  • How you can ensure that someone can be independent for as long as possible
  • Housing and household support
  • Personal care support
  • Provision of social and recreational activities
  • Assisting in guiding groups
  • Handling technological tools
  • Dealing with privacy

Admission Requirements / Required Prior Education

For this programme, you need one of the following prior courses:

  • VMBO diploma basic vocational learning pathway
  • diploma Entrance training

 

Are you open to everyone? Can you empathize with others and can you work well with people, especially with ‘difficult’ people? Do you always take the initiative yourself: in your own learning process, in communication with others and in carrying out tasks/assignments? And are you able to work independently? Then this course is just the thing for you!

How much does the training cost?

From the age of eighteen, you are obliged to pay tuition. The government determines the amount of the statutory tuition and course fees every year. Read more about the costs here.

 

Additional costs
Travel expenses, also related to your internship or training company, are at your own expense. There are also costs for books, materials, work clothes, excursions and other activities. An indication of the additional costs for this course in terms of learning materials (books, readers, licenses) are between € 50 and € 250, depending on the year you are in,-.
