Teaching Assistant

Do you want to work in education and contribute to the development of children? Does the idea that you can give a child that extra push in the right direction makes you happy? Are you flexible, creative and would you like to work with children? Then the training to become a teaching assistant is just the thing for you.

Getting started in the classroom

During the Teaching Assistant course, you will learn everything you need to know and be able to do if you want to be in the classroom. There are lessons at school such as developmental psychology, pedagogy and didactics, but you will also experience practice. We have a unique internship system that allows you to work together with your fellow students in the classroom. In addition, you will do an internship at various schools with which we have a close collaboration.

Information about the training

Do you want to work or continue your education after your training?

Once you have completed the Teaching Assistant course, you can immediately start working in primary education, special education, secondary education and vocational education. The Teaching Assistant course is also a good springboard to higher professional education.

 

There is a major teacher shortage in the Netherlands, the demand for teaching assistants is increasing, which offers many opportunities and possibilities. This applies to primary, special, secondary and vocational education.

Structure of the training

During the Teaching Assistant course, you will learn everything you need to know and be able to do if you want to be in the classroom. There are lessons at school such as developmental psychology, pedagogy and didactics, but you will also experience practice.  We have a unique internship system that allows you to work together with your fellow students in the classroom. In addition, you will do an internship at various schools with which we have a close collaboration. Of course, you will receive support and guidance from us.

Toelatingseisen / benodigde vooropleiding

For this programme, you need one of the following prerequisites:

  • VMBO diploma for a framework vocational, mixed or theoretical learning pathway
  • Certificate of transition from 3 to 4 havo/vwo
  • MBO diploma, level 3 or level 2
  • a comparable foreign diploma, supplemented with language level 2F
  • a positive recommendation from the intake committee

Depending on the size of the group, a second intake moment in February is possible.

How much does the training cost?

From the age of eighteen, you are obliged to pay tuition. The government determines the amount of the statutory tuition and course fees every year. Read more about the costs here.

 

Additional costs
Travel expenses, also related to your internship or training company, are at your own expense. There are also costs for books, materials, work clothes, excursions and other activities. An indication of the additional costs for this course in terms of learning materials (books, readers, licenses) are around € 300, depending on the year you are in,-.
